We are a small, empathic and passionate team based in Karratha, Western Australia.
Our aim is to empower and educate women by providing support, education and strategies.
We will be releasing educational programs and workshops aimed to equip individuals with the knowledge, tools and resources necessary to regain control of their lives.
Our team is made up of professionals as well as survivors of abuse who are able to use their knowledge, research and own lived-experiences to offer guidance and support.
We prioritise confidentiality, respect and non-judgment in all our interactions, ensuring that every individual who reaches out to us feels heard and supported.
Meet Tess, founder of Connect and Empower, a business owner and trained primary school teacher with a profound passion for supporting women in their journey toward empowerment. As well as a Bachelor of Education, Tess also has a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies.
For the past six years, Tess has devoted time to extensive research and self-education in the realm of woman’s empowerment, understanding the dynamics of marriage and the patriarchal systems with in society, as well as domestic violence and abuse, delving into the complex systems that often entrap women. She has also spent many hours exploring avenues for freedom and independence for women inside and outside of intimate partner relationships. Tess recently completed a micro-credicial unit through the University of Western Australian on ‘The Complexities of Coercive Control’.
Her journey of research and self-education has not only deepened her understanding, but has also fuelled her determination and motivation to support all women regardless of their situation and their goals in life.
Tess' own lived experience and her dedication to understanding the complexities of domestic violence equips her with invaluable knowledge and insights, empowering her to offer support, guidance and resources to women seeking ways to regain control over their own lives.
Tess is a strong advocate for women believing wholeheartedly in their strength, resilience and inherent right to live free from control, violence and abuse. She is committed to raising awareness and offering a path to freedom by empowering women through education and knowledge.
Meet Dr. Sam Casey, a consistent collaborator with Connect and Empower and several of our offerings, Dr Sam is a compassionate and skilled professional committed to empowering women and promoting maternal mental health. As an experienced expert in psychology, Sam has devoted her time and expertise to refining her skills and knowledge, with a special focus on the complexities of maternal well-being. Beyond this, she seamlessly integrates her expertise as a child therapist, recognizing the interconnected dynamics of family relationships and mental health.
Through rigorous research and continuous self-education, Sam has gained profound insights into the nuanced challenges that women often face, drawing upon her own experiences to inform her work. Her unique blend of professional proficiency in both maternal and child mental health positions her as a holistic resource for women seeking resilience and empowerment.
Sam's commitment goes beyond conventional approaches, employing a comprehensive strategy that acknowledges the interconnected nature of family dynamics. She offers personalized support, expert guidance, and essential resources to those navigating the path to emotional well-being for themselves and their children.
